MN Campus Alliance Trains 200 People, 6 Campuses

During the month of April, the Minnesota GLBTA Campus Alliance successfully facilitated Ally Trainings to a total of over 200 students, staff, faculty, and community members at the following institutions:

• Normandale Community College in Bloomington
• Ridgewater College in Hutchinson and Willmar
• South Central College in North Mankato
• Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall
• University of St. Thomas in St. Paul

The MN Campus Alliance offers customized trainings and facilitated dialogues for college and university campuses, student organizations, workplaces, and community organizations.  If you are interested in bringing us in to do such a training, email education@mncampusalliance.org.

April 19 Workshop: Train the Trainer

As part of the MN Campus Alliance’s ongoing Education and Training Program, we present our Train-the-Trainer Workshop.  This is an opportunity to both experience parts of the MN Campus Alliance’s Ally Training and learn “how to” present such a training.

Who should attend?

Anyone interested in becoming an MN Campus Alliance trainer must attend a Train-the-Trainer Workshop.  If you’re interested in serving as a panelist for the MN Campus Alliance, it is strongly recommended you attend.  You might also want to attend if you’re curious about bringing an MN Campus Alliance training to your own high school, campus, workplace or organization.  As always, individuals with any and all levels of knowledge, skill and experience with GLBT issues are welcome to attend!

New Trainings Now Open

The MN Campus Alliance has rescheduled its Panelist Training for Wednesday, March 19 from 5:00pm – 9:00pm at a location to be determined (either U of M – Twin Cities or Augsburg College). Learn what makes a good “story,” what’s best to leave in (and out!), how to answer challenging questions, and how to be an effective presenter. These are skills that will serve you in all parts of your life, so please consider signing on as one of our panelists.

For those who are also interested in becoming certified trainers with the MN Campus Alliance, we invite you to attend a Train the Trainer session on Saturday, April 19 from 11:00am – 3:00pm at Metropolitan State University (Room TBD). Those attending this session must also attend the Panelist Training on March 19.

The MN Campus Alliance welcomes all students, staff, faculty, and community members to attend these sessions.  Both trainings are completely free, and meals are provided. If you have you ever wanted to share your story about being gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and/or an ally, and would like to be involved with the Minnesota GLBTA Campus Alliance’s training program, this is your chance. We hope to see you there!

All panelists and trainers who work with the MN Campus Alliance Education & Training Program must participate in a Panelist Training.
